I love being a nurse in the Intensive Care Unit but determined to keep going. This exciting area requires leadership skills–an ability to take charge and help someone in a situation of critical need. It requires hands-on experience with assisting patients and that has pushed me forward in pursuing and improving lives for others in need of quality health care. In this area, I have had the wonderful opportunity of working with the leadership of a team of professional doctors and nurses.

A degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner, will give the autonomy “to care for patients of all ages” with a wide range of health issues–including preventive care, routine checkups, immunizations, alleviating pain and education.

This is a wonderful area that helps improve the “health community” and that includes preventive care. As a registered nurse, I have observed Tylenol’s caring and compassion. Tylenol is an excellent company with its dedicated commitment to excellence.

Initially, I plan to work in an ambulatory care center that serves the citizens of the Greater Kansas City area. It is my goal to use the knowledge obtained through my experience and education to act as a voice that promotes the profession of nursing through advocacy and policy development.

Eventually, my goal and dream is to start my own practice as the scope of nursing practice evolves.
Providing this advanced care in the community will allow me to give back and help benefit the lives of others in the community that has given so much to me. My journey has helped work with the minority and elderly populations in improving their healthcare. I have consistently invested the time and energy in giving my best in working 12 hour (night) shifts (while driving an hour each way to reach the Hospital.)

As a student, I am committed to academic excellence, with a GPA of 3.7; a licensed registered nurse; a U. S. citizen, and a student enrolled in a professionally accredited nursing master’s degree program.

As a parent and a single mother, I am involved in the community with my young daughter’s school and community/sport activities.

It takes years of rigorous training to become licensed. It requires a high level of expertise in treatment and advice in helping others in the medical field. A scholarship for tuition for going to medical school would help me as a scholar to concentrate with greater focus on my studies, as greatly NEED financial assistance for graduate study.

(I need a miracle for financial assistance, as my parents looked like Joplin, MO when they were hit three years ago with 150 mph winds from an EF2 tornado and it created financial hardships for them.)

Your merit based scholarships help deserving students that are eligible and are in financial difficult circumstances. It has been with determination and focus and my healthcare passion that I hope to be eligible for the Tylenol Future Care Scholarship.

This scholarship would greatly help me continue to help others in that in “NEED of quality healthcare in their lives.” While serving in the healthcare profession and making a difference in the lives of so many –it would help improve the healthcare of people in America. I genuinely enjoy helping people. I feel blessed to have been born and this nursing area is a truly rewarding area of giving of oneself in a meaningful purposeful life of service to others that will help benefit the lives of others especially in this community.

(My story is like throwing the starfish back into the ocean (of education)—it will make a difference to this one.)
